Principal's Message

Dear MLK Families!

Welcome to the 2020-21 school year. I am honored to join the King community as your new principal. It was great to meet so many of you at our Meet the Principal/Town Hall meeting.

I hope that you had time to spend with your families and are excited to return to learning.   We look forward to seeing all of your wonderful faces virtually in our classrooms. We understand this year is quite different from previous years. We are striving to provide our students with a sense of normalcy. Although we are not physically on campus to provide instruction, our goal is to provide rigorous and engaging lessons online.

The first day of school is Thursday,  August 20th. Our teachers have been working diligently to prepare for this journey. Students will continue to receive instruction in Math, English Language Arts, English Language Development, Science, Social Studies, and the Arts.

Our online platform will provide the information needed to start the year.  Your child’s teacher will send an invite to join his/her class through Google Classroom. Attendance will be taken daily at 8:00 am.  As a support for your student(s), we ask that you establish morning routines similar to getting ready to come to campus. We also ask that you provide a quiet learning environment to help students focus on learning.

Please make sure you have access to ParentSquare so you can receive up to date information about what is happening at King Elementary.

We greatly appreciate your support for the students and teachers.

Please feel free to reach out to the school at 310-898-6430 or email me directly at  if you  have any questions or concerns. Looking forward to seeing you online. Stay safe and healthy!
