California Distinguished Schools 26

Five schools in the Compton Unified School District—Compton Early College High School, Compton High School, Davis Middle School, Manuel Dominguez High School, and Whaley Middle School—have been recognized among the state’s top-performing campuses after being named 2026 California Distinguished Schools by State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond and the California Department of Education.

Historic Test Score Gains

Compton Unified School District (CUSD) has recorded remarkable achievements on the most recent administration of the California Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBAC), surpassing previous benchmarks in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. This year’s preliminary results demonstrate a significant 8-point increase in ELA and a 6.4-point increase in Mathematics.
